Our Team

Deborah Sumner

Our president, Deborah Sumner, holds a B.S. degree in biology (compounded with a chemistry minor and medical technology concentration). For over 25 years, she’s been advising senior management teams in the implementation and productivity of laboratories, from ground-floor to established facilities.

Deborah has worked as a clinical diagnostic consultant for the past 15 years, and has over 25 years’ experience as a medical technologist in the clinical laboratory field. She previously served as the Vice President at MDC Associates, which offered strategic services in the medical and clinical diagnostic markets. Her duties included regulatory consulting for FDA/ISO, technical support, auditing, management and quality assurance.

As your Laboratory and Technical Consultant, Deborah wants to help you grow your clinical diagnostic lab utilizing her experience in compliance (local/COLA/CLIA/CAP requirements), workflow analysis, operational improvements and laboratory management proven to produce efficiency and profitability.

Lisa Tierney

Lisa's experience comes from retail management after graduating from Beverly High, 1985 and worked for over 15 years for various companies in various positions such as Training and Floor supervisor at JC Penney's to General Manager of G.Whizz & Co. and several other retailers.

After leaving retail in 1996 Lisa held a position as office manager at The Crane Estate in Ipswich, MA, which is part of the Northeast Regional Office of The Trustees of Reservations. The Trustees of Reservations is a non-profit land conservation organization based in Massachusetts. Lisa was involved with all departments within the region. After 7 years Lisa went to the Membership Department at Headquarters, located at Long Hill, Beverly, MA.

Lisa left The Trustees in 2004 to be a stay at home mom, but continued to work, helping to start-up her husband's business, Tierney Appraisal Service in Beverly, MA and continues to run the office end of the business.

Lisa has been an administrative assistant at Quality Systems and Compliance since March 2013.

Janelle Gauslin

Janelle Gauslin will serve as a Technical Specialist at Quality Systems & Compliance. She graduated Salem State University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with a concentration in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Chemistry.

Janelle began her profession as a working supervisor for a Toxicology Lab at Boston Pain Care Center. After learning how to run a small lab, she wanted to pursue a more challenging career path in a Physician Office Laboratory. At Internal Medicine Physicians of the North Shore, there were multiple analyzers, management of the lab staff, ordering and inventory management, statistics and financial analysis including the laboratory billing reports. Janelle was instrumental in various interfaces between the new medical record system, laboratory information system and several other interfaces within the office.

Our clients will benefit from Janelle’s technical experience and expertise, along with her laboratory management skills.
